Hello all, this is Arjun Jain. On August 19, 2018 I’ve been diagnosed with Leukemia and admitted in the hospital.
I am Arjun Jain – Hockey Player & a Fighter…
The journey begins on August 19th morning, when I was ready to play my Hockey game. It was 10:00 AM on Sunday morning I was ready with all of my Hockey gear, and ready to jump in the rink for face off. I was getting briefed by my Coach in the locker room and suddenly my Dad rushed-in, worried, and talking to my Coach in low voice. Next thing I heard from my Dad “Arjun we need to leave because our Doctor called to report to the Hospital immediately”. I was upset and sad for not being able to play my game. I took off all my gear and sat in the car with an angry mood to drive back to hospital.
We reached to the ER at St. Peters Hospital NJ. After initial check-in, I was taken into the room where team of Doctors started measuring all my vitals and drawing the blood for testing. My Mom & Dad were puzzled about what is happening and why so much rush ? Resident Doctor said that she will explain but please let her finish all examination.
After around an hour, Doctor took my Mom and Dad out of the room to discuss. After long 20 mins, when they came back into my room, Mom’s eyes were red with sad face. I asked “What happened ?“. She said ” I banged my foot on the door, and it made me cry due to lot of pain”. That’s when I sensed something not right but Mom won’t say anything to me – because she is the best Mom of the world.
Thereafter, Doctor moved me to Pediatrics floor to get admitted BUT continue drawing my blood for testing. This time I got very angry and said “What is going on?” After discussing with Doctor my Mom explained “There are some suspicion that you may have Leukemia” hiding her wet eyes.
“Humm…Leukemia – Ok! So what ? Tell me what we need to do to handle this” I said. My Mom was surprised how calmly I responded. She explained that it’s long journey of medial treatment and I may have to stay in the hospital for longer duration, plus there will be restrictions in my day to day activities. I said to my Mom – “I am not scared of this and work hard with Doctors to be back in the Rink as soon as possible, because – I am Hockey player and a fighter…”

Arjun…. your title is apt … you are the best at hockey and you have to make the entire JAIN family proud by being the first proffesional athelete…. we have too many boring computer engineers 😝
Stay strong darling…. this is a small bump and it will pass… and you will emerge stroger then ever…. we are praying for your super duper lighting speed fast recovery!!!

Stay strong and be fierce Arjun! Remember when you are feeling pain or sadness that at the end of this journey there is hockey, 5th grade, hangtime with your brother, family and friends…eye on the goal buddy!!! Tons of love from the Bienstock’s ❤️

Hi Arjun – you may not remember me but we just met on Sammy’s 1st birthday and I think you played with kids Armaan, Zoya and Zara. Listen, I think you are the bravest person I know (and grown ups know a lot of people). You are a fighter and we all know if anyone can’t beat this, it’s you!

arjun. hope everything is going well and getting better with your treatment. when i heard what you where going threw i was shocked and worried about how you would be doing. after reading the first post you made i am very confident you will beat this and become 1000 times stronger. reason i say that is because you have the right mind set which is what you said “I am Hockey player and a fighter…”. plus seeing you play with me on the mites 2 seasons ago you never gave up and you always pushed harder and hard to get better and play better. please do not give up you have the hockey community to fall back to if you need help or are feeling down. you are a fighter do not stop being that feisty relentless player i know.
